What if I told you that you can vacation in Las Vegas on a budget? It is possible if you take some time to plan and research your time in sin city. First you have to figure out what your main reason for going to Vegas is, taking in a show? gambling? shopping? In this blog I will share some of the ways we travel to Las Vegas on a budget while still having a great time. Let’s start with the basics:
Finding airfare to Las Vegas is the easy part as return flight prices are very reasonable depending on which website you book with. The trick to saving money on airfare is to keep looking for seat sales from different airlines, check everyday for price changes and try to be as flexible as possible with regards to your dates. Keep in mind the low season for Las Vegas is July, August, November and December which makes traveling in those months cheaper and make sure to join airline rewards programs to save on future flights.
Everyone wants to stay on the strip, but there is so many hotels/casinos that it can be difficult to make a decision. Just like airline rewards most of the casinos on Las Vegas boulevard have a rewards program which sometimes gets you special pricing on rooms for your next visit. Do not book your flight and hotel together before you check the hotels website because if you are a member of their rewards program you might get some rooms at a steep discount or comped. Also do your research on where the casinos are located on the strip so you are not staying far away from the action. Remember that when you book your hotel that most places charge a resort fee of $25 -$35 per night on top of the cost of the room.
So you want to see a Vegas show? the best deal on tickets is to be had at Tix4Tonight. They have 10 booths located on the Vegas strip and the key is to get there early on the day of the show. Be prepared to wait in line but when the savings are 50%-70% makes wait worth it. There are also free attractions on the strip that won’t cost you a cent:
- Bellagio Fountains
- Bellagio Concervatory
- The Volcano at the Mirage
- Pirate ship at Treasure Island
- Circus acts at Circus Circus.
You can gamble for free in Las Vegas if you want to spend some time before your trip playing MyVegas on facebook or your mobile device. As you play the free slots you will accumulate Loyalty Points which you can use towards freeplay at selected casinos. It may be only $25 or $50 but it won’t cost you anything but time. It will take some time before you have enough points to get freeplay so the sooner you start playing the better. The other way to get freeplay at casinos is to join their rewards program, every casino has one and some of them give you free slot play for signing up. Casino Royal and Ellis Island Casino are two casinos that have these perks.
